Back up fast, recover faster with this critical part of ShadowProtect

The StorageCraft® Recovery Environment is a critical component of StorageCraft ShadowProtect® and StorageCraft ShadowProtect SPX backup and disaster recovery software. IT administrators and other ShadowProtect  and SPX users can boot this environment from a CD (or USB drive) and then back up, recover, or migrate systems, applications, services, and data.

As any seasoned IT pro knows, disasters happen and business needs change. The StorageCraft Recovery Environment gives you the ability to back up systems, restore to different hardware or to virtual machines, and migrate to a new physical or virtual environment. The StorageCraft Recovery Environment also includes utilities, such as auto-repair and diagnostics, to aid fast recovery.

StorageCraft offers two recovery environment options:

StorageCraft Recovery Environment CrossPlatform

This environment comes ready to go. If you prefer using a pre-built recovery environment, or you use SPX, then you can use the StorageCraft Recovery Environment CrossPlatform.

StorageCraft Recovery Environment for Windows

If you are familiar with the previous StorageCraft Recovery Environment, or if you prefer using a Windows-based user interface, you may prefer this environment. However, this environment requires you to build it.

You’ll need to download the StorageCraft Recovery Environment Builder to create your recovery environment with Microsoft Windows PE (WinPE). StorageCraft Recovery Environment Builder walks you through the necessary steps.

These steps are simple and include downloading the free Microsoft Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK), which contains WinPE. You only have to build your recovery environment once and, except for the 2GB ADK download, the process takes only a few minutes.

You can download the StorageCraft Recovery Environment CrossPlatform ISO and StorageCraft Recovery Environment Builder after you purchase a user license for any of the above products.

We recommend you download the latest StorageCraft Recovery Environment ISO whenever you download any ShadowProtect or SPX software updates.

Note: In order to use Hardware Independent Restore as part of the recovery environment, the system volume backup image that you want to restore must contain a licensed version of ShadowProtect.

The StorageCraft Recovery Environment CrossPlatform is integrated into ShadowProtect IT Edition, so you don’t need to download it separately when you buy ShadowProtect IT Edition. However, StorageCraft Recovery Environment for Windows is not included—you have the option to create it by downloading StorageCraft Recovery Environment Builder.

Supported operating systems

Both StorageCraft Recovery Environment for Windows and StorageCraft Recovery Environment CrossPlatform work with all the operating systems that StorageCraft ShadowProtect disaster recovery software supports.

StorageCraft Recovery Environment CrossPlatform works with the Linux versions that SPX supports.
